#OnThisDay in 2011  Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, Justin Heyward of the Moody Blues and Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer played at @SalisburyCath

RT @Chelsea_FL: Chelsea fans singing “Sit down if you love Palace” to the seated Brighton fans.

#OnThisDay in 1814 Princess Charlotte of Wales began a 2 week visit to Salisbury

“Messrs. Seagrim, Thring & Nightingale, carpet manufacturers at Wilton, were introduced to the Princess, who was pleased to accept four elegant hearthrugs, emblazoned with Her Royal Highness’s arms”

#OnThisDay in 1921 the Southampton Rotary Club hosted the first meeting of the Salisbury Rotarians

After the departure of David Dimbleby from #bbcqt it was nice to hear brother Jonathan’s dulcet tones on #bbcqt

“But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for.”

“Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade.”

Reminds me a bit of this, which is rather seasonal

I don’t remember hearing the phrase ‘as thick as mince’ until three or four years ago.

I wonder what happened to the ‘two short planks’. Did they go to college and get educated?

RT @Fredorrarci: The British can’t govern themselves. Time for direct rule from Dublin.

‘A burning clown car slopping with fetid bin juice’

Marvellous

Bloke on the radio just portentiously used the phrase ‘senior Brexiteers’…as if they were all sober, serious statesmen and stateswomen

This isn’t my mental image of them

RT @markwragg: I’ve just realised you can use Should in the #PowerShell terminal adhoc to perform a quick @PSPester-esque validation. For…

On my personal PC I’m running powershell in VS @Code on Linux, and on my work PC I’m running powershell in VS @Code on Windows…..and I tend to forget that I’m running different OS’s

This would have been unthinkable just 2 years or so ago(?), but I tend to take it for granted.

#TodayILearned that in Powershell to replace ‘carriage return’ (I think…it renders as \r in my setup), you have to put the `r in double quotes not single quotes

$BodyText = $BodyText.replace("`r"," “)

I saw ‘Graham Brady’ was trending….wasn’t sure whether to be pleased or not. My guess is that if Mrs May goes the next PM will be Johnson

I enjoy Tim Martin’s breakfasts and his carpets, but I do feel that being a multi-millionaire who qualified as a barrister should preclude one from labelling others as ‘toffs’

I found a path in Salisbury that I never knew existed at the weekend

It’s slippy and a bit dangerous at this time of year…but rather lovely
