“Matty Cash is worth every penny”
There’s a joke in there somewhere…but I’ve probably heard it before
BBC Sport @BBCSport “Matty Cash is worth every penny… you’re looking at the best full-back today, for Gareth Southgate.”
Munich by @Robert___Harris scratched a personal historical itch very satisfactorily
Could or should Neville Chamberlain have done things differently? Were both Churchill and Chamberlain the right men at the right times? Did doing the right thing lead to the wrong outcome?
I don’t have a clue, to be honest
But ‘Munich’ gives you a whisker of an idea of a time when nobody knew how things were going to turn out, but everybody was conscious of the horror of 1914-18
I really like Michael Dibden’s books and I really like Sherlock Homes
The two didn’t work together as well as I’d hoped…and the story also involves Jack the Ripper, which I’m not keen on
Anatomy of a Scandal - @SVaughanAuthor
The thing I’d want to say about this book would be a spoiler so I won’t!
Anyway, it’s very good.
I remember thinking that it would make a great film though, so very much looking forward to the Netflix series :)
My word of the day today is ‘manky’.
This was a re-read.
@Victoriamary talks in depth to Shane, revealing the complexities that you’d expect of such a great songwriter.
Somewhere between Jeeves and Wooster and the earlier, slightly rougher, episodes of Minder
It’s that good

My word of the day today is ‘wistful’.
Just heard @wardthomasmusic on the radio.
Great song, but it made me quite wistful…the Christmas thing at the @UnionChapelUK was one of the last gigs we went to before the world went a bit sideways.

“Labour put in a load of wind farms that failed to pull the skin off a rice pudding. We now have the opportunity to get shale gas - let’s look at it.”
