“Who would play you in the film of your life?
Leonardo DiCaprio.”

RT @RolandMillward: @salisbury_matt His diligence is always due. Just that it never arrives.
I’ve always found ‘due diligence’ difficult to say. It seems that Mr Johnson finds due diligence difficult to do.

My word of the day today is ‘mumble’.
How many hours have I spent here?
My word of the day today is ‘exuberant’.
“After holding an audience with the Queen, calling other world leaders, and making one final Commons speech,[277] on 28 November she left Downing Street in tears.
She reportedly regarded her ousting as a betrayal.[278]”
A period of self doubt
After posting this I’d been wondering whether the @Conservatives removed her in the late ’80s or early ’90s
Anyway I looked it up -
28 November 1990
As someone old enough to remember the 1990s, it seems weird that the @Conservatives chucked out Mrs Thatcher for not being good enough, but are persevering with Mr Johnson
When commentators on rugby and football say it’s a ‘foot race’ to the ball or goal line it does make me wonder what the alternatives might be.
Bicycle? Wheelbarrow? Leap frog?
It might be fun
Finally, if not the Song of Songs, then at least the Christmas Song Of Christmas Songs, this is a version by Christy Moore
Live at Vicar Street and with a rambling introduction abou how McGowan helps him out of a fairy ring and they go for a drink and tell each other poetry…
…and the poetry is grand.
After a drink.
You said “Daddy, daddy You’re stinking of booze” I kissed him and said, “Kid I was born to lose But you have a future And a big one to say And I hope you’ll remember All the love that I gave.”
This is ‘the other’ Christmas song by Our Greatest Living Songwriter
I think it was a charity re-hash of an earlier @poguesofficial song Lullaby of London
In truth, Lullaby of London’s probably the better version (and it was nicely covered by June Tabor and the @Oysterband1 ), but this one has some good lines from Shane…
…recorded a couple of songs in a studio then pretty much vanished, a bit like the girl in the song
Not sure this counts as a Christmas song but it’s got ‘snow’ in the title
It’s a mysterious song.
I got it on a rock and roll Chris tmas compilation and it was totally out of place
The singer has no Wikipedia entry but I read he was a busker.. open.spotify.com/track/71l…
Something more grinch-y
Elvis Costello singing about “the carcass of the beast left over from the feast, [that] may still be found haunting the kitchen” open.spotify.com/track/7AN…
Most of the songs are from a South Yorkshire tradition of getting together for festive ‘sings’ of these local carols in pubs
Maybe they go out and burn a wicker Man afterwards, I don’t know
Anyway very good stuff
