Had lunch at @MackieMayor which is like food court, but only in the way that Mo Farah is like a weekend jogger
really good food
I went to lovely Manchester yesterday, for the day
These were my tickets.
I don’t know if it’s fair to see this as a legacy of Thatcherism and privatisation etc, but it’s a bit daft
You know you’re getting old when the Time Lords are getting younger
Love this…I think, though, that there are a disproportionate number of paintings of @EH_Stonehenge in dark and stormy weather

My word of the day today is ‘glitch’.
‘Bumpkin’ itself is ““awkward country fellow,” 1560s, probably from Middle Dutch bommekijn “little barrel,” diminutive of boom “tree””
#TodayILearned that Reuben and Richard were once seen as country, bumpkin-ish names and they were shortened to, respectively, ‘Rube’ and ‘Hick’

The podcast was very interesting on the British roots of the modern Olympics…..I was also pleased to hear a reference to the lack of funding of British basketball compared to “the sitting down sports” of sailing, horse-riding, rowing and cycling.
“Yet let us all together to our troops, And give them leave to fly that will not stay; And call them pillars that will stand to us; And, if we thrive, promise them such rewards As victors wear at the Olympian games:”
#TodayILearned that the first known reference to the Olympics, in English, is in Shakespeare’s Henry VI, Part 3

I only just learnt about the ‘Leader’ key in vim (via @jovica’s Mastering Vim Quickly book) and I get a disproportionate amount of satisfaction from using Spare Bar - b to trigger one of my macro’s.
