“I haven’t read Barnaby Rudge – but it’s not one that anyone goes on about too much. I once told Claire Tomalin I hadn’t read it and I think she said: “Don’t bother.””

I hate to disagree….but if I ever meet Nick Hornby, I shall say “Do Bother”

I love the fact that when you see Big Sam or Sam Allardyce trending it’s usually because a Prime Minister has gone rather than a Premiership manager

He could do a job…and probably stop us getting relegated t.co/BzAyJmucn…

I’ve always found the ‘czar’ thing to be a bit strange… but it seems even more so that someone would be called a ‘czar’ in 1942, less than 25 years after the last czar had been done away with

It does seem that Mr Henderson was called a czar at the time:

“Leon Henderson, head of the Price Stabilization Division, was appointed as administrator and quickly dubbed in the media as the “Price Czar.” " www.encyclopedia.com/history/u…

#TodayILearned that governments appointing ‘czars’ to control specific things goes back to at least 1942

I’m thinking of doing it either:

“As Hunt outlined the biggest U-turn in modern political history to the Commons, Truss flanked him, wearing that sad, faraway smile of a Tory wife standing next to her husband explaining why he’s resigning over a sex scandal”
